Certified teacher offering one-on-one tutoring in Wake Forest NC at Back 2 Basics Schoolhouse

Let’s work together to help your child build confidence, master the fundamentals, and love learning again.

I’m Ronda, a certified teacher in Wake Forest with over 24 years of experience in education—15 years in kindergarten and 9 years in special education. At Back 2 Basics, I offer personalized, small-group homeschool instruction and one-on-one tutoring in reading, writing, and math for elementary-aged children.

My teaching approach is tailored to your child’s unique learning style, with a strong focus on foundational literacy and numeracy skills. I’m specially trained in the Orton-Gillingham method—a structured, research-based approach that’s proven effective for students with dyslexia and other reading challenges.

As both an experienced educator and a parent of a child with dyslexia, I know firsthand how important it is to have the right support. That’s why I’m passionate about helping children build confidence, strengthen core academic skills, and develop a lifelong love of learning.

Whether your child needs homeschool support, dyslexia tutoring, or early intervention in reading and math, I’m here to help.

Homeschool Curriculum: Fun, Focused & Confidence-Building

During the homeschool portion of the day, children will come to school for 2½ hours, Monday through Thursday, for engaging, small-group instruction. I focus on building strong foundations in reading, writing, and math, tailored to each child's individual learning needs.

I believe in building children's confidence first. When children believe they can achieve something, they will be successful. That confidence becomes the foundation for meaningful learning and growth.

And learning here is never boring! We incorporate hands-on science experiments and engaging read-alouds to explore science concepts in a fun, memorable way. My goal is to create a learning environment where children feel supported, excited, and capable every single day.

Loved by Kids, Trusted by Parents.

Here are some things parents and kids have to say about Back 2 Basics Schoolhouse.

My son has dyslexia, and reading has always been a source of frustration and low self-esteem for him. From the very beginning, Ms. Ronda saw his potential and met him with patience, understanding, and the perfect mix of structure and encouragement. She isn’t just teaching him how to read—she is teaching him to believe in himself. She uses strategies that truly work for children with learning differences and always takes the time to celebrate every step forward, no matter how small.

Nikki L., Parent

We’ve had the pleasure of working with Ms. Ronda to tutor our two daughters, ages 4 and 5, and the experience has been nothing short of incredible. Our daughters have not only gained confidence in their early reading, writing, and math skills—they’ve also developed a genuine love for learning. We’ve seen noticeable improvements in their comprehension, focus, and vocabulary, all thanks to Ms. Ronda’s thoughtful instruction and consistent encouragement.

Juliana G., Parent

Both of our children are on the autism spectrum, and finding the right support has always been a priority for us. We have seen tremendous growth, not just in their reading skills, but in their confidence and love of learning. Ms. Ronda is everything we hoped for in a tutor and more: caring, patient, supportive, and deeply understanding of our children’s unique needs. Our twins absolutely love working with her and genuinely look forward to every session.
